Little Rainbow Riding Hood

A short story by mindmilk.

A twisted, modern version of the tale.

The mother drapes the rainbow riding cape over the little girl and says -

"Here. Go into the forest, this rainbow cloak will keep you warm and safe. You need to bring these bottles of milk to your grandmother. They're out of milk in all the stores and neither she nor I can leave the house because we are at a certain age that is at a higher risk to the Big Bad Corona."

"Okay mama!", says Little Rainbow Riding Hood (aka LRRH).

Being young and spry and naive, Little Rainbow Riding Hood takes off into the forest. Along the way she enjoys the path, picking flowers and chasing butterflies. She follows a birdy to the right, she follows a bunny to the left. But off in the distance she hears a noise... it's a Corona! She dodges into a bush and finds a safer trail. She tries to be more careful. Little Rainbow Riding Hood sits down on a rock and takes a sip of the milk, even though she's not supposed to. All of a sudden, next to her... is a creature, in a weird costume. He's very tall and fat. He offers to help her with carrying her milk... Like an idiot.. she agrees. They walk together through the forest and Little Rainbow Riding Hood gets a gut feeling that something is wrong, but she continues anyway. The creature starts to drink the milk, and slobber...

"Hey that's not yours" .. "But I'm hungry!" says the creature, he goes to grab her, his costume falls off and it's the Big Bad Corona!

Little Rainbow Riding Hood ducks and dashes to her grandma's house finally in the distance.. then she hears an explosion behind her. Her grandma has shot him with a gigantic vaccine bomb, he is in smithereens.

They smile and share a milkshake.
